Description

Sustainability Programs (SP) must create programs and activities that facilitate education about the concept of sustainability. SP must strive to create a campus environment that facilitates and practices the understanding that resources are finite and there are limits to the systems that support life. The SP mission must communicate the concept that institutions must strive to meet current resource needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs. The SP mission must include the integration of economic, social, and ecological well-being.

As part of the Council for the Advancement of Standards (CAS) suite of Sustainability Programs resources, this document conveys the set of specific standards and guidelines that apply to this aspect of higher education. Common to all sets of standards developed by and provided for sale from CAS, they include the embedded CAS General Standards. All standards are broken down into 12 vital areas of operations to which those leading the functional area must attend.
